With releases on our imprint dating back to 2010, Sundriver requires no introduction to our community. His breathtaking compositions, from chillout to trance, always seem to evoke the therapeutic aura of an Ibiza sunset. We are thrilled to present “The Journey,” comprised of three new downtempo productions by the Polish sensation.
The release kicks off with the title cut, “The Journey,” which concluded our recent “Silk Music Showcase 07” mixed compilation. The song begins with a relaxing guitar solo, which is soon enveloped by a crescendoing array of rapturous pads. As the song progresses, a chilled groove and a delicate background arpeggio enter the mix, reinforcing the laid-back disposition of the arrangement. These mellifluous melodic and rhythmic layers create a truly blissful listening experience from start to finish.
The poignant “Somewhere Out There” is a pensive aural affair, as moody and evocative pads slowly encircle a steady downtempo groove. As the song approaches its midpoint, a celestially inspired, trance-influenced lead theme enters the fray. The forlorn soundscape conjures the image of a lonely astronaut, stranded on a distant planet.
Closing out the release, Sundriver’s “Sandbox Hero” proves to be a visionary sonic experiment of sorts. As the arrangement progresses, the central melodic theme slowly shifts upward in key, which serves to create heightening suspense (and excitement). This inspired composition liberates the listener from the doldrums of winter and offers an opportunity to get back in touch with one's inner child.
